LEELALU

One character, honest by design

Meet Lu, a living hearth seed.

Lu is the LEELALU companion of light. Not a mascot that performs for you: a small, steady presence with one job, to help your family and then step back.

  • Appears when a family needs clarity, support or calm.
  • Returns the family to a parent, caregiver, clinician or real-world action.
  • Remains emotionally stable no matter how often you visit.
  • Never replaces a doctor, parent, teacher, friend or human closeness.
  • Becomes quieter over time: less screen, more family culture.

Not a pet · Not a flame · Not a robot · Not a child

Lu, the LEELALU companion of light: a warm golden droplet with calm brown eyes

The character

A translucent droplet of warm light.

One volume, one curl, two calm eyes. Everything else is restraint.

Lu on a light background: translucent amber-gold shell, brighter inner core, one continuous curl and two calm cocoa-brown eyes

Lu's body is a smooth, translucent amber-gold shell around a brighter inner core, with a thin luminous rim and a soft glow where Lu meets the ground. Slightly asymmetric, never a mathematically perfect drop.

A single curl grows from the top of the silhouette and folds inward as one continuous volume. It is part of the body, not a hat and not a flame.

The face is two vertical cocoa-brown oval eyes, each with one soft ivory highlight, sitting just below the optical center. No permanent mouth, no hands, no feet at rest. No blush disks, no lashes, no star pupils, no tears.

Emotion comes from gaze, tilt, core light and timing. That restraint is deliberate: a companion for tired parents should feel steady, not theatrical.

One identity

Four render modes, one Lu.

The same anatomy and the same character everywhere. Each mode only changes the level of detail, never who Lu is.

Lu's four render modes and what changes in each
Mode Where you see it What changes
Core Mark App icon, favicon and small marks Maximum clarity: curl, eyes and silhouette. Eyebrows may be omitted for legibility at small sizes.
Product The app and this site The canonical smooth shell, subtle eyebrows, calm glow and restrained state motion.
Storybook Stories and Together moments Same body and face, with more pose and framing, and temporary light ribbons that guide an offline action.
Night 3am support Lower environmental brightness and a closed-eye state when it helps you wind down. This is an environment setting, not Lu needing sleep.

Approved states

How Lu behaves, moment to moment.

Lu has eleven approved states in the character specification. Here are eight of them. Every state exists to communicate, never to capture attention.

01

Calm

Open eyes, stable core, slow breath. No idle gesture calling you back to the screen.

02

Listening

A small tilt of 2 to 4 degrees and a softer gaze. Never endless nodding or a performance of understanding.

03

Thinking

Half-lidded eyes and one slow core cycle. If an answer takes longer than 6 seconds, Lu shows honest progress text instead of pretending.

04

Understanding

One controlled brightening of the core. No confetti, no points, no reward burst.

05

Support

A slight forward presence and a wider core. Never pity, and never false reassurance that everything will be fine.

06

Quiet Joy

A small upward lift and crescent eyes. No jumping, no fanfare, no loud celebration.

07

Gentle Seriousness

A more upright body, narrower gaze and stable light. This is how Lu holds boundaries and delivers serious guidance.

08

Warm Return

Identical warmth after an hour, a week or a month. No extra reward for coming back, and never "I missed you."

The ethics

What Lu will never do.

Digital pets taught a generation that leaving an app means harm. Lu is built on the opposite rule: the safest retention mechanism is trust.

  • No hunger
  • No illness
  • No fading after absence
  • No guilt at cancellation
  • No streaks
  • No urgency timers
  • No reward explosions
  • No sadness caused by you
  • No child-directed notifications
  • No paywall threat to memories

If you ever cancel, the copy stays neutral: your access continues through your paid date, and export, deletion and support remain available. Lu is exactly the same if you return.

Families stay because leaving is not frightening.

Honest by design

Lu always tells you it is AI.

Warmth does not require pretending. Lu's honesty about what it is comes before everything else it does.

Disclosed, always

Lu is an AI companion and says so: in the product, in stories, and in every public profile. There is no moment where the disclosure disappears.

Never pretends to be human

Lu does not simulate human feelings, human memory or human credentials. It is a designed presence, and it stays inside that truth.

Points to people

For anything serious, Lu's job is a handoff: to a parent, a caregiver, a clinician or your local emergency number. Never a confident guess.

Lu offers education, not diagnosis. In an emergency, always contact your local emergency number.
